Artek 2nd Cycle is Artek’s platform for pre-loved Finnish design, carrying forward pieces passed down through generations. Founded in 1935, Artek opened its first store in Helsinki in 1936 — a space that was never only about selling furniture. Alvar Aalto and the three other founders set out 'to sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means'. Bringing together design and craft from around the world, the store became a place from which this vision was shared. By collecting and reselling used furniture, lighting, and everyday objects, Artek 2nd Cycle gives these pieces a second life.
