Arita’s distinctive manufacturing techniques provided great inspiration for the French designer Pauline Deltour. By adopting the kōdai—the raised foot commonly found on traditional Japanese vessels—as a design motif, she created a series with a distinctive character.
In developing this collection, Deltour studied the typology of cups and plates used in everyday life across both Asia and Europe, seeking a balanced relationship between form and proportion, capacity, and ease of use. The glaze colors—such as dark blue, brick red, and celadon—are drawn from traditional Japanese porcelain, reinterpreted by her in a fresh and contemporary way.
