In this series, Matsunobe uses dry, unused clay that had been sitting forgotten in a ceramics studio in Shigaraki, giving it new life. The concept is to return the clay to the landscape. Drawing inspiration from organic natural forms—clouds, stones, plants—the works take shape through an artificial structure: flat planes folding at right angles, from which space emerges. Unglazed, the pieces are fired at a low temperature of around 1000°C, then finished with linseed oil, lending the clay’s natural texture a quiet depth. Both a cliff-like landscape and a wall-like structure—this duality gives the series its name.
